How should I wash my Brushed Alpaca Products

These instructions include all brushed-styled scarves, throws, and blankets. (Alpaca/Acrylic Blend)

Hand Washing (Recommended):

  • Fill a basin or tub with cold water.
  • Add a mild detergent designed for delicate or wool fabrics.
  • Gently submerge the Alpaca blanket into the water, pressing it down to wet it evenly.
  • Gently agitate the water with your hands, allowing the detergent to penetrate.
  • Let it soak for 5-10 minutes.
  • Gently swish the blanket in the water, but avoid wringing or twisting.
  • Rinse the blanket thoroughly with cold water until all detergent is removed.

Machine Washing (Secondary Option):

  • Use a gentle cycle with cold water.
  • Place the Alpaca blanket in a mesh laundry bag to protect it during washing.
  • Use a mild detergent suitable for delicate fabrics.
  • Avoid using fabric softeners, as they can damage the fibers.

Drying:

  • Lay the blanket flat on a clean, dry towel. Reshape it to its original dimensions if needed.
  • Roll the towel with the blanket inside to gently squeeze out excess water.
  • Unroll the towel and let the blanket air dry on a flat, breathable surface, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Avoid hanging it, as this can cause stretching.
  • Periodically check and adjust the blanket's position to ensure even drying.
  • Ensure it is completely dry before storing it to prevent mold or mildew growth.

Storage:

  • Store the Alpaca blanket in a cool, dry place, preferably in a breathable storage bag or container.
  • Consider using cedar balls or lavender sachets in the storage area to deter moths.

Wrinkle Removal:

  • If your Alpaca blanket develops wrinkles, gently steam it using a handheld fabric steamer or hang it in a steamy bathroom to allow creases to release naturally. Avoid direct heat.

By following these care instructions, you can maintain the softness and quality of your Alpaca blanket. Remember that the acrylic fibers in the blend may require more care than pure Alpaca, so it's essential to handle it delicately to preserve its appearance and longevity.

How do I care for my 100% Baby Alpaca Products?

These instructions include all 100% Baby Alpaca scarves, throws, and blankets.

Spot Clean When Possible:

If the blanket has minor stains or spills, try spot cleaning first. Dampen a clean, white cloth with cold water and a mild detergent specially formulated for Alpaca. Gently blot the stain without rubbing to avoid damaging the fibers. Rinse the area with clean water and blot dry with a towel.

Hand Washing:

  • Fill a basin or tub with cold water. Avoid hot water, as it can cause the fibers to shrink or felt.
  • Add a small amount of mild detergent designed for wool or Alpaca. Make sure it is thoroughly dissolved in the water.
  • Immerse the baby alpaca blanket in the water, gently agitate it, and let it soak for 5-10 minutes.
  • Gently swish the blanket in the water to clean it, but avoid vigorous scrubbing or wringing, as it can damage the fibers.
  • Drain the soapy water and refill the basin with clean, cold water to rinse the blanket until all detergent is removed. This may take a few rinses.

Removing Excess Water:

  • Avoid wringing out the blanket, as this can stretch or damage the fibers.
  • Instead, carefully press the water out of the blanket by rolling it in a clean, dry towel. Press down gently to absorb excess moisture.

Drying:

  • Lay the blanket flat on a clean, dry towel or a flat drying rack, shaping it back to its original dimensions.
  • Avoid hanging the blanket, as it can cause it to stretch. Also, please keep it away from direct sunlight to prevent fading.
  • Allow the blanket to air dry naturally. This may take a day or more, depending on humidity levels.

Storage:

  • Store your clean, dry baby alpaca blanket in a cool, dry place, preferably in a breathable container, such as a cotton storage bag.
  • To prevent moths, consider using cedar balls or lavender sachets in the storage area.

Following these care instructions, you can help ensure that your 100% baby alpaca blanket remains soft, luxurious, and in excellent condition for years. Remember to refer to the care label provided by the manufacturer for any specific guidelines related to your blanket.
